Senior year in high school. I had known one of my two best friends (she was female....and we WERE just best friends) since eighth grade. There were periods during that time when we were inseparable, and we knew just about everything there was to know about each other.
Then, halfway through senior year, her father had been working in England, found out he'd be staying there a lot longer than anticipated, and she ended up moving over there (her and her sister had been living with a relative, because at first he didn't want them changing schools.).....she left right after Christmas. I was devastated for most of the rest of the school year, and yeah, even though she wasn't a gf, I felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest and stomped on.
