Also all the wiring, the roter and cap but still it will not start. I had 2 freeze plugs blow out on me I changed them . and the motor is not frozen. no cracked block or anyting. what happened it I was driving and it all of the sudden started stalling i fought it to get it home when I opened the hood the exaust was red but i have no clogged exaust. i even try pulling it off and starting in but no change. it started back up that night but since will not start. any helpful answer's would be a blessing. please don't answer me with answers like (its junk) or get a new car)

i dropped the exaust completly and tried to start it but it still wouldn't I thought the same thing being the cat convertor but if it was unhooked and still wouldn't start how can that be

I think I might of found the problem bing it jumped time I have gas spitting out of my carb the belt is fine but i have a pretty good idea that's what it is

If you drove it until the engine got so hot that the exhaust was burning red, you could have a blown head gasket. Check the oil and see if you have water on the dip stick. Or, you could look at the fluid in the radiator and see if there's some oil floating around there.

I think whatever it is, is a bit more than what you can do. Sorry.

One last thing. You said the fuses but did you check the fuse blocks under the hood? That could be it.

"RED Exhaust!" Rebuild or Replace Carb. Sounds also like You Alternator is Bad/Dead and Drained your battery and That's why it Died "All the Sudden". Take the battery out and Put it on a Slow Charge to 5 to 8 Hours! Replace the Carb. & Alternator.

NOTE; After it got that hot an Oil & Filter Change might be called for! Check and/or Replace Air Filter.

My brother had something similar happen to his 87 Sunibird. Even though the motor turns doesn't mean it's any good. My brother is looking for a new engine.

The only other options I can think of is it is running extremely rich or the timing is extremely retarded,

your exhaust was bright red?? and your car is not a turbo...

When last time you changed the cat? could be clogged up from falling apart if its the original one

to be honest it sounds as though the catalytic converter is bad
