Because for many people, too many on the right, priority number 1 is money, and let will not let America get in the way. A perfect example of this is the tax breaks Bush gave to big oil. In 2006 he gave an 8 billion dollar tax break to the 5 largest oil companies in America, AFTER they released their profit statements showing the largest profit EVER for oil companies.

This is true to some extent in all political parties, but one party is notorious for it, and that would be the Republicans. Two great examples are the Republican senators who gave Bush a piece of their mind about his incompetence in Iraq, ie. John Warner, and the rubber stamp Republican Congress Bush enjoyed for so long. But when it comes time to place their votes where their mouths are they stick to the party line and back up Bush and the policies they just finished tearing down as wrong. Bunch of cowards.

It's the new cool thing to hit our government. Everybody's doing it. Guess the loyalty to the nation part got too boring.

I too have pondered this question. I've decided it's because winning means more to them than anything. Including the Nation.

Many people in the US are very narrow minded. They can't see past their own party even when their party is wrong.

I would like to think that people don't intentionaly vote for issues that he/she would think harmful to the welfare of our nation. I do think that half of this nation is dumb as a clam and the other half are brilliant like me!
