Because most people pick up attitudes and become loyal to the political party of their parents and neighbors when they are children, and not very smart. Thereafter they just support the positions of the party on most issues and never think about what the policies really mean.

2. They watch trash like Oprah then vote for who she says
3. 90% of this country (Liberal and Conservative) are sheep that don't know anything that's not spoon fed to them by talking point con artists like Bill 'O Reilly and Chris Matthews
4. They think their "vote doesn't count"
5. They're too lazy to vote
6. They're plain and simply dumb as a friggin' board...

I think it's because they are out of touch. Example. I heard 3 white men in suits discussing Oprah and wondering how she could have any effect on politics. LOL How indeed. See what I mean. They are out of touch at their own peril.

Work at a sales job. You'll realize everyone does stupid stuff all the time. Not just in politics.

Beats me. Go ask a Democrat. Lots of smart people but they vote for really dumb things.
