Question

When will the sexual abuse of children stop? What is wrong with these people and how do they live with themselves? Often times I hear they lie to themselves saying the child likes it but that is BULL. They try to justify things that can't be justified in order to make themselves feel better. Anyone who is reading this who has kids, nieces, nephews,... do whatever it takes to strengthen the laws against these sick individuals. I was abused as a child and I have never, nor will I ever be, the same since. Seriously, do whatever it takes to stop this....obviously the laws aren't working....

maybe, when you make the sentence for it a slow painful death. ok that still might not completely eliminate it but it's more of an incentive than just being thrown in jail a couple years

It will never stop. There will always be people who either can't, or choose not to, control their urges.

We can deter a certain number of those who *choose not to* control themselves by more severe penalties, but you can't deter those who's mental condition is such that they can't control themselves.

Even in the cases of those people who are 'able' to control themselves, there's a point of no return in making the penalty for molestation too severe. That point comes when the penalty for molestation gets too close to that for murder.

The overwhelming majority of child molesters molest a close family member - a daughter, niece, granddaughter, kid sister etc.

If such a victim, after being molested, says "I'm going to tell", the molester has four choices -
1) He can try to persuade the victim not to tell
2) He can go on the run and hope not to get caught
3) He can accept what's coming and take the punishment.
4) He can murder his victim and try to blame it on an accident or on a stranger

If the penalty for molestation is too close to that for murder, a lot more molesters are going to choose option 4. A lot of kids die in accidents, or wander off and get lost. If a little girl is saying she's going to tell, and the penalty for molesting her is death, what disincentive does the molester have NOT to kill her? If he gets caught out, he gets what he'd have gotten anyway.

"When Will Child Molestation Stop?" - It is a pretty complex issue, however I think one of the biggest causes is the pent-up, puritan view of sexuality in the US. I am not in any way suggesting that sex with children should EVER be okay. That is not where I am going with this. However, as long as people in the US feel it is necessary to make people feel that sexual feelings are wrong or bad, people will act on these bad feelings in inappropriate ways.

I truly respect your anger towards this issue. irregardless of how a perpetrator enacts or tries to justifies is merely a justification for their so called "psycho-socio behavioralism" reality check: It boils down to the perpatrator acting or enacting on a choice that is of their own doing. I will agree that the laws are not working towards the benefit of protecting children and victims of such awful crimes. But the flipside that where it is working is zero tolerance enforcement on all levels....

I was abused too.

Realistically, it will be with the human race until its end. All laws do is punish...and there's always a first offender out there ready to take the place of the ones we catch.

Sanders, i know what you're feeling i was molested over the Thanksgiving Holidays by my boyfriends friend in Russia and no one believed me the only one who did was my boyfriend and & Dylan messed that guy up bad because he did that.
IDK, but i hope it stops pretty soon because its sad what these people are doing to these kids & you're right they think we like it but we dont it hurts us & scars us for life because we have to live with it for the rest of our lives.

never as long as we keep letting them of for one reason or another and dont demand Justis i dont sleep good at night when i here a baby gets raped i know what it feels like for me it is a life sentence and my childhood discroid something was taken away from me without my consent. there is to many chances given to them and to many deals there was none given to the ones that were hurt mentally or fiscally

i could elect to supply up baby abuse/molestation too, childrens are first on my checklist; they're only as cute as animals. i'm getting sadder as quickly as I see childrens getting abuse on the information
