Hi Marilyn,

Without hesitation I can tell you to get a TiVo.

I prefer TiVo because of simplicity of use. The schedule is always correct because it is updated every day. I can program TiV0 to record from out of town over the Internet. TiVo learns what you like and recommends shows that you might like. Often times we never would have known they were on. You can program an entire season of a given series with a single click and TiVo never forgets. You can tell TiVo you like someone or something and it will locate shows for you. For example if you tell it you like John Wayne it will watch for and record anything he is on.

I could go on and on about TiVo. There is one downside and that is the monthly (you can pay yearly if you want) fee.

To learn all about TiVo check their web site here - https://www3.tivo.com

Check the TiVo user forum here - http://www.tivocommunity.com

I hope this helps you make the best decision.

Most DVD recorders are like a VCR in that you schedule a time to record, not a show. A DVR is based on guide data, and records the shows. You can tell it to only record new, or reruns too. I have a Tivo, and I record shows for my daughter. I created two season passes for the same show. One for new shows and one for re-runs. The re-run pass only keeps three episodes. When it records the fourth it deletes the first.

One of the other cool things is if you forget to record a show, you can connect from the internet and schedule the recording.

Tivo also has a 30 day money back gaurentee. If you don't like it, you'll get your money back.

If you do get a Tivo, can I get credit for turning you on to it? When you activate TiVo service, just enter my e-mail address: danryan28@hotmail.com

I know this sounds like an add, but it's not. I get points if you enter my email. Like a rewards program. I'm trying to earn enough to get my daughter her own Tivo for her room.

I like TIVO, I am addicted to mine, and I don't watch that much tv.
