I totally get you! And when they start picking out other items that would look good with what I'm looking at I just want to run. If I want help, I'll ask!

I think sometimes because feet are a touchy subject people can react like you do. Some people don't want anyone to touch or look at their feet, however in shoe shopping most of the time we do need a salesclerk to retrieve a shoe and facilitate the sizing etc....don't be terrified though, I'm sure they see so many feet they don't remember them all.
I think the only way I would be weirded out and stressed is if the salesperson were an old boyfriend, or someone that I knew and I didn't want them to be thinking about my big feet every time I see them!

Yes but not shoe salesmen. I like them because they help me by measuring my foot so I get the correct size.
As long as you are in control then you shouldn't be afraid of them. If you are weak then yes, a little fear might be ok.
I dislike overbearing or pushy salespeople. I just walk in the other direction from them.

Absolutely.
If I'm ever in a store just looking at stuff to kill time, I get bombarded with salesmen. I wish they'd leave me alone.
But there have been a few times that I've known what I wanted and I didn't have to be convinced to buy it, but I needed someone to get the boxed item out of the store room with a fork lift (just for an example), and those times, no salesman was to be found.
I remember one time at Circuit City I was trying to buy an MP3 player. I knew what I wanted, but it was locked in a glass case that someone needed to unlock. I had no dumb questions I needed to ask, I just wanted to buy it. Well i had to ask about 5 different people working on the floor to get me that damn thing. Each person told me to ask a different person, and that person told me to ask a different person. Then, when i went to check out, there was no one at the registers, so the people nearby at the customer service desk waved me over to check me out there... Wtf - NO - you come HERE. Customer service sucks these days.
But anyway.

Me too, i walk out of the store. I can't concentrate on my shopping...
Maybe they have commissions on every item they sold because the cashier scan their id's if they made a sale, in Bangkok malls they do that.
I hope malls change their selling or service strategy.
I am also in sales (real estate) what I do in exhibits is just to introduce myself, tell them to look around and if they need me and if they have time for a presentation.
In malls better if they just do the same, introduce themselves and say just call me if you need help, I 'll be around something like that.

I think alot of us feel pressured by salespeople. I try to remember they're just doing their job and we all have to make a living - that and a deep breath help me feel better.

I always hate walking into Aeropostale since the store clerks are like, "hello, do you need me to help you?" And usually I'm just with a couple of my friends. It just totally creeps me out.

Oh yeah, i sometimes run from sales people. They are like the grownup version of being freaked out by clowns when you are a kid.
