badcock. I am not running for President either. Mormons believe in and commit polygamy. It was a question about the people who helped form Romney's beliefs. Politics and Religion mix whether you want it to or not and it is a valid question.

MVD34. I lived 2 1/2 years in Utah while I was in the military. When I went there I honestly didn't know what a Mormon was. My question is a valid question which I wanted an answer to. His family formed his belief system and it is very valid to want to know more about them. I once heard about how great it was that he only has had one wife...while that may be true, he may have other opinions about polygamy which has been formed via his extended family.

Does anyone know WHO in his family has committed polygamy?

Thinking...One I asked a question which I didn't know the answer to.

Two...People saw Bush do coke while he was at Camp David as well as there are videos on line showing Bush drunk in the late 90's. So, yes, their previous life DOES have baring on how they proceed in life. If it didn't why did Kerry get slammed? You can't have it both ways and cherry pick facts.

Thank you for the people who have actually ANSWERED my question. It is a simple question, which I wanted to know the answer to.

J1...I have seen it with my own eyes in Utah. There ARE people exactly like in "Big Love" in the Mormon church. Facts are facts. But this wasn't the intent of my question. My question has to deal with Mitt Romney and polygamy and no further than that because if it did it would be in the Religion section, and I want to know about Romney...not the others.

MVD...I would never vote for Romney in the first place and it has nothing to do with his religion. It has to do with the fact that he is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, which of who is intent on creating the North American Union.

J1...It would be nice to think that religion doesn't have anything to ever to do with politics...but Bush Jr. proves that it does. His comment about god told him to attack Iraq shows how dangerous it is when they do mix. So, it does have some baring on the facts that he is running for President.

But like I said earlier, that isn't the reason why I wont be voting for him.

Possibly, and in the recent past.

Google "romney colony polygamy" and take your pick for best source of information - there is both viewpoints out there if you like or dislike him.

Does it really matter what Romney's past family may have done? Where polygomy is concerned, there ARE some factions of the Mormon church that still attempts to follow that "way" of life, but for the most part they follow the law of the US which is only one spouse at a time. I do think personally that Mitt Romney should, at some point, have a one on one discussion about his faith to help people understand a bit more about it. Will it happen? Possible, but not in the very near future.

My family history had people in it who did some pretty awful things but that doesn't mean I'm like that. Don't put too much stock in what history may have held in a candidates life. Only concern yourself with what each candidate has or has not done in their life, don't worry about what their parents, grandparents, and before may have done in their lives. It really doesn't matter.

Why would that matter?

In all likelihood ALL of us have polygamy in our genetic tree -- plus a likely plethora of unspeakable horrors.

We don't hold children accountable for the sins of their fathers in this society and that's a good thing.

If you don't like Romney because his religion is nutty, just say so. I do!

(So, Fedup, you would vote AGAINST someone who had polygamy in their family tree? Even if you agreed with that candidate on the issues more than another other candidate? Of course you can ask the question, but it sounds nutty to me.

I will not vote for Romney -- I dislike social conservatives in general and religious ones in particular. I just find your question a little too much like asking if a candidate has any "black" or "crazy" people in his family tree. Not exactly the same thing, I know, but is smells a little odd...)

This is irrelevant. It is meaningless - like tying Bush to being a drunk (hasn't had a drink since the 80's) or Gore as a druggie (because he smoked a joint or two in the 70's). What people did when they were young and foolish means little. Whether or not their family had polygamists in the past is even less relevant. How does this have any affect whatsoever on Romney running for President? I'll answer for you: it doesn't.

get your facts straight....Mormons do not believe in and commit polygamy.

The people you saw with your own eyes were NOT Mormons if you say that they were exactly like big love...

Either way, irrelevant. Mitt Romney is running for President, not the US pastor!

OK, lets agree to disagree. I believe Mitt Romney is our best option right now. thanks for the question
