Well varicose vein ligation is a procedure, not a diagnosis, so I'm assuming that you have varicose veins and the ligation was recommended?
There are other treatment options for varicose veins, but based on the size and location of the vein they may not be available in your case. Sclerotherapy, in which a special chemical called sclerosant is injected into the vein to close it off, and endovenous laser or radiofrequency treatment, which uses heat to close off varicose veins, are also sometimes used as treatment options. You may want to talk with your doctor about why he/she recommended surgery and whether there are any alternatives available in your case.

Raise the foot of the bed higher than the head. Spray your legs with cold water every morning. Always rub your legs upwards, i.e. towards the hips. Lose weight. Eat foods high in flavonoids such as buckwheat and citrus fruits. Apply Aesculus (horse chestnut) cream twice a day. Put your feet up as much as possible. Avoid sitting with your calves vertical and your thighs horizontal and don't stand still for long periods.
I was developing varicose veins in my mid-twenties, but they went away completely once i started wearing leggings, so wearing leggings and tights a lot would probably help too.
