To kill is to take life. You can kill a person or a rabbit or a rose bush.
You can kill by accident, for a good purpose (e.g. to kill an animal for food or to kill a human in self defense). Examples of justifiable killing of humans MAY include in defense of the life of another, in defense of one's country, or in a legally ordered execution. Not everybody agrees on what killing is justified however. Some do not think that any deliberate killing (even in defense or in executions) are justified. But most people allow that deliberate killing is permitted or even mandated in some cases.
To murder is to kill a Human deliberately and without justification. As I said, people can differ on what, if anything, would justify the deliberate killing of a human.
In the legal sense, the law defines what circumstances justify the deliberate killing of a human.

Murder is intentional. Killing is not always.
I can be killed in a car accident, but it's only murder if someone cut the brakes or ran me off the road.

Murder is defined by legalities. Killing has nothing to do with the law.
By definition, murder always involves killing...but killing does not necessarily involve murder. It's the whole square/rectangle definition repackaged.

I would say murder was something that you thought about and planned out. You wanted this person dead so you murdered him/her.
If you kill someone or something you did not plan it. You killed someone accidentally.
