I was trying for a very minimalist gold balls and lights. But now that I'm looking at it...seems rather dull. Does look nice with the lights off though. I found some silver and white garland and put some on. Now it looks cheap. Who is using this kind of garland this year? What do you think I can do to the tree to make it a little more flashy? Should I go with the garland, get more gold ornaments or throw a red tree thow under it?

Well i think that you should add all white lights into it and maybe keep the gold in it.. But like splash a little color in there. And get read of any silver.. Dont do silver in a tree..And if you dont want to put color in the tree just put it around it the tree

Merry early Christmas

The gold balls and silver and white garland will pick up the colors of multicolored lights and look gorgeous. How much garland is on there? Try like one or two strands and see how that looks, too much garland may be what's making it look cheap. And you have a star or something on top right??

When you say flashy --That calls for mini-flashing lights. It comes in all white or multi colored bulbs. Use extension cord to add more light strands. The white lights look pretty, but it depends on what decorations you are going to put on your tree. I agree, the garlands look hokey. If you add large red shiny bulbs with the gold that would work. i used all red last year, and it was really nice. I also added special fabric bendable plaid bows about 50. You will need a lighted topper.. Icles on the doesn't look too good, either. OKl, mini light strands, big red bulbs, with your gold bulbs, and bows? Remember it's when you light a tree, this is the ultimate !
Good luck, and I know you'll get other ideas.

You can switch out the garland for gold beads instead. That will make it look classy. A red throw underneath, maybe with a few red balls mixed in will add a touch.

I use bead garland, and lots of glittery ornaments, also I hang balls (baubles) inside the tree branches near the trunk and they reflect the light back out of the tree makes it look like you have more lights. put a gold shiney fabric under the tree for more reflection,

Just a nice red throw for under the tree. Then ... go to your local Wal-Mart (or other discounter) and get some reels of those Wide Wired Ribbons -- they curl nicely (and stay in place!), and look good in Vertical stripes down the Christmas Tree.

Just remember ... use your imagination and have fun ... and since you have gold lights/balls -- go for a contrasting deep color for the ribbons (with some gold in them too).

how about a wider gold ribbon instead of the garland? instead of wrapping it around the tree, have it trail downward. and, use different types of gold balls. some shiney, some with a same color glitter on them, some dull finished.

Different Ornaments and lots of flashy lights...We did an impromtu X-mas tree last year and though I was happy I had X-mas, I wasn't impressed by my tree...Usually it is nicer and much more flashy...and of course real helps too. Use your imagination and you can't go wrong :)

I would get a tree stand cover and get some fancy ribbon to drape down it or along sides the tree. That's what I use and it looks very elegant.
