A number of them are FORMER hippies but not too many are current hippies.
They are all lawyers and doctors now a days. The hippie era is over and they all decided that the "bum" life style was not for them.
My family are all democrats and they all drive luxury cars, have nice homes in the sub burbs etc. not hippies at all!
The people who are currently hippies are just the real left wing kooks. Most of them are to the left of the typical Democrat anyways.
That is kind of a silly question because that is like asking are all Republicans "friggin red necks" ? Answer is: not really save for a few kooks.

Define "Hippie."
If it means someone who is hip; someone who understands pop culture and its direction, then most Democrats fit the bill. Hanna Montana and Sponge Bob Rule!
If it means someone from the Sixties who smokes dope, does acid, et al; never bathes; wears their hair long and has long dirty beards; do not work or want to; I do not believe all Democrats have those qualities, as I am drug-free, bathe/shower at least once a day. wear my hair short, shave every day and work at least 50 hours a week.
Thus, not all Democrats are Hippies, under this definition.

Well, we do tend to care for the enivornment so you could call us "tree huggers." However, the term hippie implies getting high and laying in a field whereas most of the Democrats I know are extremely hard-working people. You could even call me uptight. Stereotypes aren't cool MAN.

I'm not a hippie but i've talked to a few. Here in Berkeley there are still hippies and they're cool. They are very passionate and intelligent.

Most, but not all. But, IMHO.... they are marxists and hate America.
Name one democrat that does't support redistribution of wealth - a major marxist theory
Hate America - Supported the Viet Cong and spit on returning vets - Protest and snivel about terrorists right and so far have fought any surveillance/monitoring of terrorists - Support criminal illegal immigration - its a looooonnngg list
Here on Answers I've seen democrats post that the "new" communism is not like the old one to justify liberal ideals. What the heck is this????

most of the hippies i have met claim to be libertarians.

Come on, Democrats are supported by the same corporations that support the Republicans, the only difference is that Democrats are supported by fewer corporations. The US has one party with two right wings, both make and support laws that support corporations not individuals or groups.
