Sure. I give you Colin Powell. If he ran he would be leading the polls as either a democrat or republican. He is a well respected and honest man that is well liked by both sides of the aisle. I think he could win the Presidency easy should he decide to run.

Blacks didn't used to have the right to vote in some states. It used to be legal to own slaves in some states. Women didn't used to have the right to vote.
Barack is now leading Hilary by 4% in the polls, and she used to be ahead. Things change. America is more racist than it thinks it is - I agree with you there, but things have vastly improved compared to the way things used to be. I think Barack will be the next president, but we will have to wait for the elections to be really sure.
As to the report that Barack is a Muslim, that was a story that Faux News ran with, and was quickly embarrassed by because it was BS. Only people that WANT to believe that nonsense do - them and idiots. Remember how in the south blacks couldn't win an election? Now there are plenty that are mayors, governors, congressmen, and senators. Things change, and nobody can stop that... nobody.

The only thing the Democrats would do is pass some legislation in achieving the *symptoms* of this depression..maybe open some soup kitchens in certain area's or free meals to seniors or the homeless There already has been *resource* and *bail out plans* this will increase but the War is taking a lot of our money but the US cannot quit to for awhile. Barack just may win this election but it would set him up for a failure Obama has the cards stacked against HIM as the Supreme Court and congress will knock down anything is not stable or Constitution

Barack Obama doesn't stand a chance. For one, white racists won't vote for him. A lot of black people don't even consider him black, he's muslim, and he's mixed. The only reason he gets a lot of press is because he's a (somewhat) black man running for president, in reality, he doesn't deserve it based on qualifications and he won't be elected. Now, I think America is ready for a black president, but whenever we get the man that deserves the presidency he will get elected. Not this inexperienced guy who really, his race is the only thing that got him this far.

SHUT THE HELL UP with this inexpierienced crap...and Rudy Guliani is better suited? The man was nothing more than MAYOR! And he gets national spotlight just cause he was mayor during 9/11 and he didn't do much. He was just a figurehead.
Clinton is more qualified, I will give her that, but she's a real sleazebag who is FAR too attached to the lobbyists in this country and trys to play herself off as this moderate candidate who is perfect. I don't think so.
America is ready for a black president...we will be turning the corner and really signifying ourselves as a beacon of diversity with this kind of political outcome. I don't think it will happen, but you better believe I'll take Obama over a majority of these candidates. He's smart, charismatic, and seems to possess the qualities of a good leader.

Parts of America are very racist. As repulsive as that might be, they have the right to think and believe whatever they wish.
Personally, I have no issue with Obama being president over his race. I don't agree with all of his views about things and probably wouldn't vote for him, but race has nothing to do with it. It's the same reason why I wouldn't vote for Biden or Hillary.

I think eventually, with more experience under his belt, he will become a serious presidential contender. I don't mind a black president. I hope he changes his stance on the war, though.
The issue for me is not even about being black. I would vote for a conservative candidate so long as his/her views and answers concur with my aims and issues.

heh heh..I've asked conservatives this very question, and they all squirm and say they don't think a black person could get elected. Personally, I like Obama, but would have some concern that he doesn't have the political clout to be effective.

i'd say yes because Obama is leading in all the polls when he's against the top GOP contenders, but trails Hillary. That's not bad. He may not win Mississippi or South Carolina, but Obama is close which means he's a serious contender.

I think that there are a lot of people who wouldn't vote for him because he's bi-racial, but I think there are also people who would vote for him because he is. Same goes for Clinton. There are probably people who wouldn't vote for her because she's a woman. There are also people who would vote for her because she is.
In short, for some people, a candidate's sex or race is more important than their platform. It's not just that they don't want them. There are a lot of people who think it's high time we had someone who wasn't a white male in office. My concern is, as always, that people would ignore the platforms in favor of their perception of a person or party.

No doubt that a Black man can be elected to the presidency in the US.
But not this election, and certainly not Obama.
