From the error and default messages I am receiving I cant send or receive email unless I allow others to email me on my profile - is this another bright idea of Yahoos? So the way Yahoo thinks is we accept all the hate mail and death threats sent to us or we arent allowed to use Yahoo email? What a crock that is -

What happened was I went to an old email and clicked on the bottom where it says to reply and it said I couldnt send or receive email until I enabled my email account. I changed it a few days ago to where it isnt shown and people cant email you -

So then I went to her profile and clicked on email her and it said the same thing again - cant send or receive until I enable my email account again

You CAN block incoming email, yet send out email through the Answers site IF the other person allows email. No, you cannot receive email because you have disallowed it.

EDIT!! - I stand corrected, Isotope. But just two hours ago I sent out an email although I had recently blocked incoming emails [due to you know who]...tried to send you one just now and got an error message saying I must enable email...ah well...Those who know how to access the 'group' can get my email

So, let me just understand...

You have said here on Yahoo! Answers that people can't email you...But you're getting Y!A email from users anyway? I'm not sure how that could be possible. If you don't accept email messages, then your address is not only not visible, but not usable by anyone here.

I wonder if it's possible that you're confusing your regular Yahoo! email with what comes through Y!A. I send & receive messages through Yahoo! email that are completely separate from those that come through Y!A...The Y!A messages actually go to a different address than my Yahoo! email.

Also, if you receive a Y!A message in your email inbox, you can't use the email system's reply function. You have to hit the Y!A "reply to this message" link, that will then ask you to log in to Y!A, so that your message can be sent through the system here.

Hope that helps to clarify.

ABFABMOM is right. You're probably trying to REPLY to the eMail rather than clicking on the "Reply to this...." inside the body of the received eMail.

I did the same thing when I first started here.

OR... maybe that person doesn't allow eMail? Can they send if they don't allow to receive ? Hmmmmmmmmm

We'll have to test that out. Someone who doesn't allow to be sent eMails... send me one and I'll see if I can respond through YA.

EDIT... I didn't know that about Goldwing.....

I don't know but its not a very good policy. However; can you spam them out? Or do you have soooo many that you cannot spend the time? In any case that is wrong. I don't know when they started the email crock.

It has been that way since I have been on here, since June,2006. You are right. We should be able to email out but be able to block the incoming ones should we choose to.
