I just placed my yearly Victoria's Secret Christmas order, as I do every year, requested gift boxes, as I do every year also. This year, the boxes didn't arrive with my order. When I called Customer Service, they explained that they now charge $3 per box. Chinsy and cheap, in my opinion. I probably won't continue to shop there because of the incident.. who else thinks it's absurd to charge for boxes at Christmas?

I used to work at a retail place that charged for boxes, not just at christmas but all year long. I hated doing it, cause I felt like it was rude, so most of the time I just gave the boxes to the customers.

I use to get free Gift Boxes with every gift I bought at Christmas or other wise. This is the first I have heard of charging for Gift Boxes. I bet Victoria's secret is not the only store that is doing that this year. With the cost of gas and other things going up the stores are trying to think of new ways to charge for everything and blame it on the economy. I also think it's absurd to charge for boxes at Christmas. I save every good gift box I can and store them in the attic in case I need one. I also save gift bags. bowes too. It saves a few nickles that sometime add up.

Yeah, that's a little silly if the gift boxes aren't all that nice. I don't mind paying extra for gift wrapping/boxing if the packaging is really nicely done. For the three dollars you'd be stuck spending on their boxes, you could pick up basic boxes at the store or get some pretty gift bags.

I never use boxes, anyway unless the item comes boxed already. If I'm giving a sweater or shirt or something, I fold it neatly, and wrap it in tissue paper. Then I fold the wrapping paper around that. I refuse to pay for nonsensical items such as gift boxes. If I have to mail something, I will put the gifts inside a shipping box. But I rarely pay for those either, I use boxes that get shipped to my house and workplace.

That's so stupid! Even mom-and-pop type places wrap gifts as a courtesy. and $3 per box? I mean, come on. If you're going to charge your customers, do like $1 or something.

It is absurd, but I use other boxes to help the environment and reduce waste. I dont think they are at all concerned about the environment. Its also fun to see peoples reactions when they think they got a box of Cheerios for Christmas! LOL!

I think it would be OK to charge for boxes if they were super nice ones with bows n stuff :) But the plain white boxes you get with their logo on it like at Dillard's, Macy's, Victoria secret and so on should be like .25 to 1.00 AT MOST in my opinion :)

I completely agree its insane. If your buying an item from them they should supply the box. I actually stopped shopping at a few places because they charged for boxes.
Absolutely ridiculous

I personally don't find it absurd to charge for the boxes since they aren't the first place to switch to charging for them...
