Well, almost anything buried in the ground that can be found elsewhere can be found there because of the movement of continents and changes in climate: diamonds, oil, coal, iron all come to mind.
The primary resource of places near the equator is a long growing season or 2-3 growing seasons a year. Because of the monsoon patterns, most equatorial areas are very wet.
