for legal proceedings. i mean come on, isn't this the most ridiculous thing to happen this year. that poor woman. and if anyone says one thing about respecting their culture i will scream. the most popular name in the top ten in this country is mohamod, so my question is, is this extremity at its worst.

anyone anywhere in the world should be respected for their beliefs. we tolerate everyone and anything in britain and its frustrating to think one of our own is locked up over something so ridiculous.

What you think is ridiculous , is valid to them. I,m sure you are quick to condemn foreigners who break the law here. I don,t think it is right , but it is their law. She should have been more careful in a country with Sharia Law

It was a teacher that reported the poor women, Why? Surely the same teacher could have easily explained to Ms Gibbons that this was not allowed. Had she had it explained to her she would most certainly not have allowed the children to name the bear Mohamed.

I think they should of felt it an honour that the children voted to call it by that name..... The children have a strong respect for Monhamed and wanted to uphold that name.....

if mohammed is so taboo a name 'why so many mohammeds'?
it is not the tradition in Europe to name children Jesus but in central and south America it is common place - i don't think naming a teddy Jesus would get you flogged or six months in jail...

I think it would be disrespecful to call an ANIMAL mohamed, I would feel a bit miffed if somone called their dog Jesus or something so I think its a silly disrespectful thing to do but I cant see how a cuddly toy is disrespectful - poor women.
