Truth serum works by making it hard to think up a story/lie. Since they have been telling the same lie for so long, there is no thinking required. The masses would then think the politicians were telling the truth - final conclusion - bad idea.

Yes it would be unconstitutional. You would take away their freedom. Plus they probably know things (like classified information) that they can't afford to talk about because it would jeapordize national security.
I'd say it's fair if we give every person truth serum in a court of law, and when they go to job interviews, etc... To apply this to only politicians would not be fair. You'd take everyone's freedom away for the sake of honesty. I hate to say this, but people have to be free to lie.

I wish all the questions would first have to be answered with just a yes or no answer so we would get something straight from them. After that they could go back and explain theirselves. I find they beat around the bush so much when they get through you never know where they stand.

If they all had truth serum's administered before debating: what would come out of their mouths would be a real shock to most of America. So in-order to preserve our way or life i would have to say no.

That would be a boring debate. You'd have them volunteering to plead the fifth all night long.
And yes, I belive it would be unconstitutional unless they volunteer to take it.

How about a pill that makes their nose grow? I think we as voters need to be up on the issues and really know the candidates backgrounds and this is just as good as turth serum when you KNOW they have lied!

Perhaps they should be hooked up to lie detectors throughout the campaign! But, alas *sigh* Who could possibly run?
