Capitalism does not require Democracy to work and it can coexist quite well with socialism/ But the govt of China is a dictatorship, which does not necessarily, in practice, promote "communism", which is an ideology that does not mix with capitalism. These terms are often confusing, and made more so by the rhetoric of politicians and the laziness of the media.

A good question--and the answer is neither, exactly.
Communism is a system of organizing society that brings all political AND all economic activity under the controlof a central authority (it's alot of ohter htings too, but thats the relevant point here).
When the Communist leadership introduced market activity/economics 30 years ago, they took a step away from communism. Now, the economy is NOT communist--it is capitalist, though with some holdover institutions.
By definition, the political system is also no longer communist in its organization--control of economic activity and exclusion of market economics is basic tocommunist social organization.
What we have now is an inherantly unstable situation. The government is simply a dictatorship (with "Communism" merely retained as a legitimating rhetoric), while the economic arena is dominated increasingly by freedom and capitalism. At some point the instabilities will come to the surface, and the country will move in one of two directions. it will either move toward a more repressive regime--in which case the economic growth will stall out. Or it willl move toward a genuinely open (democratic) system--which is much more likely, though there will almost certainly be a period of chaos and vilence as the existing power structure is forced out.

Well, you don't need to ask the folks here to know that the government is Communist in China.
But in fact, it is more like socialist government with very strong capitalist society.
Only Kim Jong Mentally ill's north korea can be called a true communist state by now

Are you serious? Do you really not know the answer to that? Why don't you try picking up a book and reading or looking it up somewhere. You'll find out pretty fast that China is Communist. If Hillary wins here in the U.S., she'll try to turn us into Communists too.

China is best described as Communist government and free market economy.
As all countries, neither its government nor its economy are pure examples of these ideologies.
