Even as a therapist who has read lots of literature concerning the ineffectiveness of spanking...

...this is a terrible, terrible idea. Just because something borders on a bad thing if overdone (physical abuse) and doesn't work as well as healthy parenting and positive relationships... does not mean that our government should make a law about it.

This is where Democrats go way wrong. Citizens need to be able to think and act for themselves. We don't need to OUTLAW drugs, but rather, we need the competence to behave in ways that keeps us safe from them. We don't need to OUTLAW spanking, but rather, we need education about more effective parenting strategies.

Completely disagree!!

I know there are different forms of discipline, but that isn't the point. Why should government dictate how we discipline (provided it's not abuse) our children.

I absolutely disagree! Keep criminalization for the criminals; reward good parents who are simply trying to discipline their kids.
