We will not be skiing and we don't like it too cold. I'm 26, so I want to have a good time, but maybe avoid spring breakers.

As the first two answers indicate, the Fall is absolutely beautiful in Lake Tahoe. The only downside is that the lake is too cold past Labor Day to spend any quality time in it. If you're not snow skiers, there's no reason to go in the winter (other than the peaceful atmosphere). If you go in late July or August, you'll have fantastic weather - mid to upper 80s. You can rent a boat (sail or motor) at one of the many marinas and have a great time. You can also parasail, waterski, wakeboard, jet ski, etc. You really cant do any of these in the Fall.

If you aren't skiers, I would definately try september and early october. The lake is beautiful at that time of year. Still kind of warmish, fall colors in full force. Usually the fish are spawning in South Lake Tahoe area rivers. And the crowds are not very crazy.

The times to really avoid tahoe if you don't like crowds isn't spring break (that's snow time), is memorial day, 4th of july and labor day. Those weekends are always very crowded.

Spring break isn't really one week. It can start as early as mid -march and go through mid-april depend on the school. Some colleges in the area are mid-march.

August and September is beautiful because the leaves on the trees are changing, the hiking is great. Check for the best rates at www.findvacationsonline.com or www.wiitravel.com.
