The question is very vague, however I think I know what your trying to put across. The reason some sons are so hard is that parents have forgotten what it was like for them when they were the same age, things change with every generation and we as parents have to acknowledge that fact. I am 47 and I have a son of 25, we are not only father and son but we are the best of friends and either if us can talk about anything from drugs to sex, relationships to responsibilities. He know he can cry on my shoulder if need be and I can do the same, we can go down the pub for a drink and a game of pool, or we can sit at home with a drink watching a DVD or just talk until the early hours of the morning. The reason we can do this is because I realise that his generation is very different to mine, sometimes he's opened my eyes with stories he got from school which has at times left me speechless, but I was never judgemental towards him, I just asked him to explain what was happening and understanding him as an individual. It is not so much as to why sons are so hard to understand, it is the fact that parents forget what it is like being their age. I bet if you looked back at the time you were the same age, your parents would be saying the same thing. Good luck.....David

It's hard to say. I have three sons and all three are totally different and show their emotions different. So I just ask them, "What's up", and try to go from their.

Sons would not understand anything until they become fathers themselves.

It also depends on how they were brought up.
