I'm sorry hon, but you can't change someone else, only yourself.

You could tell him that people on their deathbeds don't generally say, "Wow, I wish I'd spent more time working!" but that might tick him off.

This is a very hard thing to do. You have to look at men like lions. Their job is to hunt. Most of the time if they don't bring in what is needed into the home they feel inferior. It's in a man [at least some] to do whatever it takes to provide for their family, even if it's sacrificing time with them. My husband told me when he had to quite his job [for health reasons] he felt really bad that he couldn't provide for his family. I know this is true because he actually went back to work and really endangered his life. So I can only tell you to try to understand his viewpoint on working so hard for his family yet make subtle hints that you believe that he needs some time off to relax. And when he finally get to that point when he does take off from work just let him stay around the house and don't allow him to do anything. And if possible leave him there so he can have some alone time.

It's important to remind your husband the vows that he said when he got married. Marriage is a full time job and if neglected it will hurt your marriage. I would suggest you reading some books by Gary Chapman. Find ways of showing your husband the benefits of watering your marriage. What you do today for your marriage will payoff tomorrow.

You need to explain to him that he needs to have more balance in his life...but if he didn't work enough then you'd be on here complaining that he didn't work hard enough. So you might want to tell him what your ideas of enjoying time off means. Does it have to involve you or will you be content if he chooses to go out with friends in order to this without you?

It's time to pull out the photo album, and show him all the things you used to do together A walk down memory lane. Go to places that you haven't been to for awhile and or create new memories. Sometimes when we stroll down memory lane, we forget just how fast time flies.

He will wear down with age and not be able to keep up with himself. Then he will enjoy those free moments with family.

You can't change him. You can state how you feel about what he is doing.
