I would like to be able to use the ladies or gents ( ha ha) and NOT get harrased by a toliet attendant, who lets face it is usually foreign or black ( not got anything against them, Im just pointed out that ive never seen a white british one).

Im expected to pay a £1 when the squirt me with cheap purfume or when they harrass you to buy a lollypop.

Is it a cultural thing, when some one says no thanks that they sill persist in helping your "freshen up" and taking a pound of you for the privillage.

I was thinking of using the gents, instead, but i have heard that the toilets attendants in the gents shout " no splash no gash" before spinking you with old spice or brut against your will.

What laws do we have to stop these people?

Oh and why cant me and my friends use the same stall anymore, you can only have one person in the stall at the same time. not everyone goes in there to snort coke.

Wow. This is what qualifies as a problem across the pond, eh?

How about, stop going into attended toilets? There has to be a place to squat in that country without being hit up for a tip. Second, you don't have to tip anyone -- that's why it's a tip. Third, why the HELL would you need someone to go into a stall with you?? Unless you're disabled in some way, you shouldn't need assistance past the stall door.

Get a real problem.

The establishment gets to set the rules just as you do in your home. Use the gents or two to a stall your trespassing minimum.

Squirt you against your will you can file assault charges. However if you are assaulted while trespassing that could backfire and you end up being the one charged with assault. As the attendent would be considered to be acting as an agent of the property. In other words as soon as he says leave or get out you are in violation.

Why would you patronize such places?

First you are not obligated to "tip" anyone even a toilet attendant. I definitely wouldn't tip especiallly if they did squirt me with some cheap perfume. Just politely but firmly say "no thank you". Or better yet, just yell at them "You splash, No cash" that should stop them.

Second, why would you want another person in the stall to watch you take a pee? I find that gross. The stalls are hardly big enough for one, much less two unless you are a parent with a child who needs help.

Just as an aside, I happen to have done up a contract for a restroom attendant for a night club a while ago.

He was an independant contractor, and was paying the club $2,500 a week for the right to provide an attendant in the mens room, and $1,000 a week to provide one for the ladies room. (Hmmm, wonder what that says about who tips better?)

He was more than happy with that price, and was still making a very good income.

Accckkk -- the toilet stalkers!

They have them in some of the Casino's here in the states too and they make me nuts! And at the race tracks....grrrrrr

Go away -- I am a big girl I can find an open stall on my own and get my own paper towels!

There ought to be a law about harassing people in the lav!

I don't know that it is the coke-snorting they are trying to avoid with the "no double occupancy" rule. It's more likely they are trying to prevent you from getting your freak on...

Sorry that they spray you with cheap perfume.

Try asking them nicely to not touch you. If they touch you anyway, scream for police assistance.

here is a twist for you: In Thailand, there is almost always a woman cleaning the men's toilet and watching you pee. It is very disconcerting.
