Do you still hold it against your parents for not getting it for you?

I ask because I don't have one that I wanted and didnt get , that I can remember.
But my daughter wants a skateboard, and I am dead-set against it! She is 7 and a priss pot, so I know she will never use it. I dont want to waste $40.00, but I dont want her to hate me.

Show her the "wish" book (sale papers) and have her circle what she wants. Then sit down and look at it with her. Make sure you "oooh" and "ahhhh" over everything. Then show her the super cute shoes and little outfit that you had in mind . . . she will be in such a good mood that the skateboard will be forgotten. ♥ Oh - we were lucky to have food at Christmas and I can't ever remember one where I went to bed hungry. Mama tried. ♥

Back in the 70's, I wanted all this bike that looked like a chopper. Later, my dad told me it was in the basement (on April the 1st) and then he laughed when I got upstairs and he saw my disappointment.
No, I don't hold it against them.
But I have children now and when I say I'm going to do something for them I keep to it.

Give her a Gift Card instead for the amount of the skateboard ..... that way, she can spend it on what she wants to ..... as she walks through the store to spend it, there is a good chance something else will catch her eye that she will want more ..... let her decide on how committed she is to getting a skateboard ...... = )

I wanted a Big Wheel *sigh* & no, I think I am over it now :o) I understand the not wanting to get a skateboard for your daughter, they are quite dangerous.

Yes, a bike. But I still feel bad to this day because they did the best they could and I did not hide my dissapointment at my other gift.
