I'm doing a history project about the system of checks and balances during a certain president's administration. Can anyone tell me an important piece of legislation that was passed during John Tyler's administration?

The best piece passed was the "Log-Cabin" bill enabled a settler to claim 160 acres of land before it was offered publicly for sale, and later pay $1.25 an acre for it.

This enabled settlers own their own land and help lead the expansion West.

He also vetoed a national banking plan, feeling this violated "states' rights". That would be a check and balance issue. Congress passes, the President vetoes.
