According to the drug risk category D, aprozolam has exhibited definite risks to the fetus when used in humans.
The drug is teratogenic in animals at high doses producing skeletal anomalies and by affecting the fetal neurodevelopment it causes cerebellar defects, reduced motivation and increased male aggression in the adult offspring exposed in utero.
Unknown transfer through the placenta but other benzodiazepines cross the placenta freely.
Suggested possible association between in utero exposure to alprazolam and triazolam with congenital anomalies , the number of exposures was too small to make a conclusion.
Chronic maternal use of the drug throughout pregnancy can cause neonatal withdrawal.
In other words, it is not safe.

I was taking ativan which is very similar to xanax and my doc took me off of it RIGHT AWAY! It is known to cause birth defects. The only safe drug for anxiety that my docs know about are Busparone. I was prescribed that but it doen't help much. Call your doc asap for advice on what to do and try (or don't) take any more until you speak with him/her.

I would check with your doctor. There are a lot of medications that aren't safe during pregnancy, or haven't been studied enough to know whether or not they're safe during pregnancy.
