Most of our nation is sick and tired of anything remotely resembling Christian Values or Beliefs being removed from our society . Schools , courts , public land , etc .
And some places just saying 'Merry Christmas' is being banned .
School plays that have anything to do with Christianity , even remotely , are being canceled nationwide . The Liberal Left claims that some of these thing 'could' be considered 'offensive' to some .
'Offensive' huh ?. . . . . OK , so what would the Liberal Left say when some claim that removing these things is offensive ?
What do you say when we say some liberal ideologies being taught are offensive ?
Are you equally 'offended' ?
Do you fight for Christians rights to not be 'offended' as hard as you fight for others to not be offended ? For example - Muslims ?
What makes your ideology so 'special' ? Or is it ? And if it's not then what's the difference between a Muslim or Atheist being offended and a Christian being offended ?
Do Tell ?

FYI - Islam / 'Muslimism' is currently being taught in many American PUBLIC schools . California was one of the first . New York has a 'special' PUBLIC school for Muslims .
There are NO PUBLIC schools specifically for Christians . And basic Christian beliefs are NOT mandated to be taught to our children. . . . but Islam is mandated in some districts .
Hypocrisy?

The problem is that modern conservatives are so cut off from reality that basic facts the entire world believes in are called "liberal ideolgies" by these people. And they only exist in America. Most of it is driven by an eternal dislike of facts and reality which motivates fundamentalist Christianity to propagandize the country in their never ending quest to convert everyone to their religion.

Okay, the liberals on here who keep blabbing on and on about the "seperation of Church and State" need to actually go back and READ the Constitution! In particular, read the Establishment Clause in the first ammendment!
The first ammendment states, "CONGRESS shall MAKE NO LAW respecting the establishment of religion, OR RESTRICTING THE FREE PRACTICE thereof!"
This clause prevents the ESTABLISHMENT of a state religion! It prevents the LEGALIZATION of one religion and the CRIMINALIZATION of any or all others. Laws in this nation are passed by the congress (both senate and house must approve) and signed by the president. This clause establishes THAT lawmaking process. It addresses NOTHING else!
What we find in the name of political correctness is that schools are violating a student's right to free speech when they are forbade from bringing Bibles or other religious materials, or when they are suspended for bringing plates for a birthday party because the plates read, "God made you special!"
Also, notice the funny thing about this FICTITIOUS "seperation of church and state?" It is applied ONLY to Christianity! It certainly isn't applied to Islam! Not when schools set aside special times for Muslim prayer, or when their lesson plans include having children take "muslim names" and waging imaginary Jihad!
Where is the ACLU then!? Where are the liberals who cry, "seperation of church and state!?" They're nowhere to be found!
Political correctness isn't hypocritical! It's a joke! It's a joke because it fails at doing the very thing it is designed to do: prevent offense! In fact, it seems that no one CARES about political correctness when it comes to Christians and Christian beliefs! It's open season on Christians and their beliefs! Don't worry about offending them!
I could go on and on and on, but then this answer would be too lengthy. I think the asker gets the idea.

For the very reason that Jefferson and many other signers of The Declaration of Independence & the U.S. Constitution did not want the Bible being used in the classroom - they did not want a state-sponsored religion.
I find it interesting that you are have written " Christian Values or Beliefs" in initial capital. Since when have values or beliefs been the provenance of only Christians? Are these "Christian" values or beliefs not the same as Jewish, or Muslim, or Jainist, or atheist beliefs?"
Good home life, family values, laws against murder, theft and adultary, kindness to the the orphaned and the marginalized are all found in the major religious social systems. What makes you think that Christians beliefs & values are any better (or worse) than other religions' beliefs and values?
Christian school prayer, is exclusive, School plays that deal with the birth of Christ are exclusive, Christian creches on public land are exclusive. American values and beliefs are inclusive.
And what makes you think that not being able to say "Merry Christmas" is a liberal idea? It comes from many businesses that do not wish to offend their non-Christian clients. It is not a government policy.
I believe that my Christian values and beliefs are of great importance and I do find it offensive that you would say that no Christian values and beliefs is the provenance of the liberal left.
I am a Christian and what you would call "Liberal Left." However, I would claim that my Christian Values and Beliefs are the very articles of faith which make me a liberal lefty and not the other way round.
Edit: and to Erineyes while the majority of American (I'm not sure about the 90%) believe in God, I would ask: Which God? Is that Yaweh, or God the Father, or Allah, or Zeus, or Krishna? And the last I heard you are still free to practise any religion and lead your life in any way you choose.
And to NIbble: Christmas, I'm sorry to tell you, is NOT a Christian holiday in the U.S. It's a government holiday, just like Columbus Day and 4th of July.

Earnest...haven't you realized this basic fact.....
That Christianity is the root of all evil in the world (note the sarcasm).
Removing Christmas plays from schools is just absurd...Christmas plays are a GREAT way to bring children together to help them understand other people's cultures and how it is celebrated in other countries. And Christmas for CHILDREN, let's be honest here folks, is about Santa....not Christ. All you are doing is removing the further education of the children.
Fine...you want to remove religious things from schools....FINE....but the word 'Holiday' doesn't have to refer just to Christianity....as a matter of fact, there's more than ONE holiday in December! Oh wait...we can't use the world holiday either...as the origin of holiday comes from Holy Day!
And being that the liberal outlook seems to be that Christianity has been around the US for 200+ years...well...now we must cater to the 'new' immigrants. Oh well....we're a minority.
And for you who claim 'Separation of Church and State' (which is fine)....IF YOU'RE NOT CHRISTIAN...YOU BETTER BE WORKING ON CHRISTMAS!! It's a Christian holiday and you are NOT entitled to the day off!
Going back to decorating my CHRISTMAS tree!
EDIT - Earnest....here's the link with the NYC Islamic school....and a whole bunch of other things!
http://jonasclark.com/public_schools_islam.htm
EDIT THE SECOND - And here's some more information about Islam and Public Schools!
"An elementary school in San Diego created an extra recess period for Muslim pupils to pray.
At George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., Muslim students using a "meditation space" laid out Muslim prayer rugs and separated men and women in accordance with their Islamic beliefs."
Right out of USA Today!
OK EDIT THE THIRD - Hey JCBoyle - Christmas is the CELEBRATION of the BIRTH OF JESUS!!! How exactly is that NOT a Christian holiday??? Just because the Federal Government has declared it a holiday....does that take away the fact that it wouldn't exist without the Christian RELIGION? Get over yourself....Christmas MAY be a Federal Holiday...but it is based on the Roman Catholic Church!

hi . i'm a liberal and published a question asking why ok for Alec 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley and not Paula Deen to apply a be conscious that's a slur against a set of folk .. do no longer think of it became into understood judging from first countless solutions. i think of what Alec 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley did became into greater greater public and unquestionably greater intentionally meant to be hurtful. i became into surprised that he used an offensive gay slur, it became into pronounced on the information, and no person looks to think of that crossed a line. somewhat? Paula Deen might have been ignorant in her use of the N be conscious yet she not often looks as hateful and intentionally hurtful (or at superb uncaring) as 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley. So WHY are companies dissociating themselves from her yet no longer the super mouthed fool!

Stopping the government from establishing ANY religion is a good idea and required by the constitution. When public (you know, government run) schools perform plays that are based on the bible the violation of the constitution should be evident. You would be SCREAMING unconstitutional if the school performed a winter solstice play.
If Christians are offend by the proper application of the Constitution they need to get over themselves.
There is NO public school system in the US that MANDATES instruction in Islam. Funny, I was FORCED to say a Christian prayer at the start of my school day.
The constitution and the amendments were specifically written so that the majority DOES NOT rule. Otherwise the first amendment would have required we all practice a form of Christianity that most Christians of today would not recognize.

Wah wah wah, another "War on Christmas" drone...
Disclaimer: The War on Christmas is nothing but a cultural meme created by elements of the far-right in order to increase their power and influence amongst the masses. Censorship of holidays does exist and some of it is unnecessary, but the phenomenon is at nowhere near the grandiose and utterly ridiculous scale that some socially conservative Christians try to make it appear to be. It's nearly all hype. Businesses using the word "holiday" as opposed to "Christmas" in order to promote inclusiveness is not an attack on Christians.
The persecution complex schitck is getting old.
Since I believe in the Constitution and the 1st Amendment and the idea the government shouldn't favor any religion, if this Muslim public school exists, then yes I would be offended though I won't cry about it like the War on Christmas folk might.
Do you have a link to this supposed Muslim public school?

Just understand that not all liberals are the offended by stupid crap like school plays. No, I don't think religion should be in school at all. If you want to teach your children ideology, go to private school.
I also don't think we should go out of our way to please all religions...that's stupid. Super left wingers are a bit crazy sometimes, but some of them are my friends.
in regards to your additional details: if that is true, which I don't know if it is, that is crazy as hell. I do not support that at all.
dont remove christmas plays. that's stupid.

Liberals who don't support our traditional holidays and the ideology behind them, should put their efforts where their mouths are by simply agreeing to work those days.
Let's how long it would be before they start seeing things our way, again.

That is not the issue. The issue is that the constitution says that government shall not favor any religion. The whole seperation of church and state thing. And yes I know those specific words are not used. It was written that way to protect every American be they Buhdist, Jewish, Muslim ,Christian or anything in between. Why do you hate the very building blocks that made this country great?
Typical. Add to the question after the fact and then scream"stupid liberal!" Are you going to ask me what number your thinking of next?
