It is a little orange label you get to remind you that you have been wasting too much time on Yahoo answers, when you really should be out in the world doing something.
Well that one view point.
But I would prefer to think it is given because those who have it have been consistent contributor's to a particular category.

Hey there Arabian Dune,
First of all, don't you think we look nice with that orange badge, it reminds me of my love for tangerine and orange juice, lol........
Anyway, it means that you ask and answer a lot of qs in a specific category, plus u get quite a no. of best answers. "Yr knowledgeable in that category". Or just maybe like me you have some time on yr hand and yr spending it here.
