What Does Hog Stand For

It all started with Harley racing on the dirt tracks, the racers had a little pig as their mascot. At the time they were referred to as the Harley Hogs, now a days it's an acronym for Harley Owners Group.

Two different eras, two different meanings...

HOG is now associated with Harley Owner's Group - but the origin of how Harleys became associated with hogs came from the following (from the Harley Davidsion website):

Leslie "Red" Parkhurst breaks 23 speed records on a Harley-Davidson 61 cubic inch racing motorcycle. Also, the "hog" association starts when the racing team's mascot, a pig, is carried on a victory lap after each race won by the team.

Man, all these guys making fun of what HOG stands for are just jealous. They can only dream about having the ability to finance the $35k necessary to build a chrome dream machine. And every Harley guy should know the "victory lap with the pig" story by heart. If they ride a Harley they should know the history.

I can't believe I actually agree with William for a change.

As far as the power goes, anyone ever try to handle a full grown hog? Not easy, they're strong. A horse or bull is much easier to control.
