While I was familiar with the name well before Ms. Jolie's usage, I think it safe to assume most people weren't, and that "Brangelina" will (unfortunately) be the most ready association for the general public.
Have you considered looking for something similar, but just slightly removed? The original Welsh Madoc or perhaps Maxim or Maxen? Still a very similar sound, but without the literal celeb association, if you follow. ;)

I don't think of Angelina Jolee when I hear that name. The first person that came to my mind was Tommy Maddox. The MLB pitcher.

Some people yes
Everyone No
If you love the name, and you will not care that some people will think that, then it's the prefect name
I never hear of Maddox before Angelina Jolee, but I would assume you like the name, that is why you picked it

I don't think everyone will associate the names, I didn't even think about Angelina Jolee until you mentioned it. If you don't mention it, maybe no one else will. And if they do, you named him that because you fell in love with the name and knew that it was the perfect name for your son.
good Luck!

Everyone will either be reminded with a visual picture of Angelina's son or the infamous Maddox of internet fame.

As soon as i saw what you wrote, that is exactly what I thought.
But you know, it IS such a beautiful name, so who cares, right? And as much as I like Angelina, and I know Im about to be thumbed down like crazy for this... once those two breakup and get with someone else, they may not be SO popular and in our faces in ragmags and such all the time.
