I left for Thanksgiving Break, and left the plant in my heated dorm room. The leaves on it are all dried and yellow and are drooping, and it doesn't really want to absorb the water I give it. Please help this plant is my only friend at school.

believe it or not a can of soda and then watering it...it loves the sugar.
and I still give mine soda once a month and it just loves it. Most of the time though it is just left over soda that someone did not drink completely but enough for it to be bright and bushy.

Talk to it, water only every 7 days, get some plant food for it, change out the soil if you can keep from damaging the roots, and put it in a clay pot with a drain pan

With your hands, stir the soil around, then it should soak up the water, also try using left over coffee, or tea. My grandmother told me this, and I water my plants with one or the other at least once or twice a month.
My plants stay beatiful.
