i ask this because I recently visited Australia and was taken aback by its brilliance. I was in awe @ how well the country seemed to be administered, and how civil people were. I later found out that the Australian Government a few years ago made it clear to muslims wishing to reside in Australia, that no sharia law would be acceptable and that if muslim migrants in Australia wished to abide by Sharia law and not the laws of their nations, they were better off going back to their own countries where sharia laws took prescedence over common sense and universaly accepted ways of living.

Why is it that so many muslims adapt with the times and cultures of the nations they settle into, but a select few don't ? why do those select few then get the attention they want - by being media coverage (which i personaly believe they shouldnt as theyre a waste of space) ?

its simple - if you hate the west or any civilised part of the world, dont go there! stay in your own home and be happy i say.

It's called being a fundamentalist. Many Muslims live peacefully here in the USA and adhere to the SECULAR laws along with those practical in Islam. As you said they adapted. One of the big issues for fundamentalists is their inability to adapt. In fact I respectfully submit that religion's biggest issue is failure to adapt/change with the times. I find it foolish to live by laws and rules governing a socitety that existed thousands of years ago (basics excepted 10 Commandments are supposedly timeless). PEACE!

You need to abide by the laws of the country you live in. If you want to follow laws that are contrary to those of the country you wish to be a part of, then go to some other country that believes as you do.

If you join a society, you must agree to abide
by it's laws.
If you wish to observe additional restrictions imposed
by your religious law, (such as Shaaria), that is your choice, but it is in addition to the societal law, and
does not supersede it where there is a conflict.
If, within your own community, you wish to submit
to shaaria and all parties agree, most governments wil be tolerant.

No non-muslim nation that I am aware of allows Muslims to follow their own religious laws where those laws conflict with the law of the land.
