Im a first time mom to a 3 month old girl...lately, as expected, her saliva has dramatically increased, causing her to drool constantly. And her fists are glued to her mouth. Fine with me, i know she's a baby and thats what they do. However, she is getting a little rash (tiny red spots) around her mouth...i wipe her as much as possible, but as im sure all you parents know..wipe all you want, its just going to be a slobbery mess 2 seconds later. Is there anything that i can put around her mouth that is meant for this type of "slobber rash" or whatever it is? Or will it just pass when her swallowing reflexes come to her and the slobber decreases?

Keeping a bib on her will help, then the cloth is always handy to wipe her face with. Usually you don't want to put too many things around her mouth, like lotions and such but there are a few baby chapsticks that may help. Just check and make sure that they are safe for use on the face and are non-toxic.
This is probably life for the next few months so gear up for a lot of face-wiping. My son started drooling around 3 months and didn't stop until his first tooth came in at five months, then it slowed down considerably.
Good Luck!

My daughter would get that rash on her chest where the slobber would collect so I used those bibs with a vinal back to protect her chest. I would hesitate to put something like diaper rash cream around her mouth though (even though that would protect her skin).
My doctor prescribed a 1% hydrocortizone cream for my daughter (you can get it over the counter). It will bring down the redness and burning/itching that the saliva causes. Rub it into the skin so there is no cream sitting on her skin. This way she won't be able to get any in her mouth.
The best way though is to just keep on removing that spit. Patting it dry is better though, so as not to irritate the skin.
The slobber is because she is beginning to teeth. Get used to it for the next several months.
The above poster reminded me of something: johnson and & johnson makes a stick for chapped faces. It's light green and comes in a roll-up stick sort of shaped like a deodorant stick. That would probably work.

Aww, congrats! That is so cute!!! My son (15 months) said his first words today. My husband was leaving for work and said bye to all the kids and he suddenly said Hi Daddy! I was so excited. He is also able to stand unsupported for a minute now. My 4 1/2 month old is almost sitting unsupported. He can stay up for a minute or so now...he also rolled back to belly for the third time today. My 3 year old is potty trained through the night now. The other day he said he didnt want to wear a pull up to bed, and he woke up dry!

I used vitamin A&D ointment, apply a thin layer after drying area. It helped my drooling son. you can buy in any store with baby products and it's also good to prevent and treat diaper rash. Just use separate tubes if using on both the mouth and bottom!!

My son is doing the exact same thing! Fortunately, he doesn't have a rash...yet. Maybe try Lansinoh pure Lanolin breast cream. It's not just for sore nipples, and it works great on chapped lips!

sounds like the start of teething--it took my son 2 months to cut his first tooth after he started drooling and chewing on his fists.
I used Butt paste and i would put it on his chin thru out the day---and keep a bib on. the butt paste worked great to keep his that area dry (at least for a little bit) just dont put close to her lips and such.
I use butt paste on my face when i have really bad zits and it works great!!

She is teething! I put A & D on my son's cheeks and chin. On the areas closer to the mouth chapstick would probably be better though.

We kept our slobberers in those towel bibs constantly. Also when not slobbering, used the big gerber chapstick. About as thick as a quarter.
