I think you need to dress nicer, depending on the position you're going in for. If you're interviewing for a stocking / warehouse position, then jeans and a nice shirt are fine. But, if you're interviewing for a floor / sales position, you need to wear a suit. Even if that isn't the norm for their employees, you need to make an impression on the interviewer that you care about your appearance and can be ready to impress at any moment.

No! Even if its "just macy's" Tennis shoes and jeans are NOT appropriate interview attire! I know we are memembers of the lazy generation... so stand out from the rest of the uneducated pack and dress for success!

Instead of jeans, wear khakis. Instead of tennis shoes, wear a causal dress shoe. Im not saying you have to wear suit shoes, but something OTHER than sneakers (and dont even THINK about putting on some flip flops or sandles!)

As a manager, when people would come to an interview in jeans, they already lost points in my book. It is like an insult, that you dont take the interview seriously enough to look nice, how are you going to take the job seriously?

Dont forget to shave, and make your hair pretty. Take out any facial piercings, and leave earrings (if you have any) to simple studs or a small hoop, try not to draw attention to it.

No, that is not appropriate. Depending on the job a suit or nice pants with a dress shirt. You cant go to an interview at Macys in street clothes. You just cant. In fact, buy an outfit at Macys and wear it.

Really? There are people who actually think jeans are ok for an interview? Wow. Thanks for making it easier for me to get a job since I go in wearing slacks and a tucked in dress shirt at minimum, and depending on the job perhaps a full suit and tie. It is absolutely not ok to go to a job interview in jeans, unless you are aspiring to be the assistant fry chef at McDonalds or something.

Wear something nice, think business casual as a minimum. It doesn't hurt you to look nicer than expected, but it certainly does hurt your chances of getting hired if you look sloppier than they want to see.

No. You always dress up from the level you wish to be hired at.
Wear a suit, or at least dress pants and a jacket; with a dress shirt and tie, and dress shoes. Borrow them if you have to.
Read up on how to interview [ google it ], and bring a leather or leather look notebook or portfolio to bring questions, write answers, and take notes.
Lots of mouthwash, lots of deodorant, no cologne.
Hair, nails, etc. clean and well groomed.

No. You need to dress better than that. Most employers assume that people dress better than normal for the interview. If you show up dressed as you have described they will wonder if you will show up for work in jogging pants!

Dress clothes only! Preferably something they sell.

Years ago I was given the best advice on dressing for a job interview. - Check out how others are dressed at the company, then try to duplicate them. Reason being - Companies are more likely to hire someone that already looks as if they fit in /belong. (mind you.. you still need to have the qualifications they are looking for ..but it doesn't hurt to have "the look")

No. Wear something that is professional, khakis and a button down shirt with either loafers or a pair of leather tie shoes. You want to present yourself in a way that shows your perspective employers that you will present yourself with pride not only for yourself, but for the company as well.

Good luck!

NEVER!!!!! Get dressed up it shows the employer that you care about yourself. Plus if it came down to you or another person that was dressed up they would probably pick the other person. 1st impressions mean the world when you need to make a quick decision.
