But with low cost of living you get low wage jobs. Try looking up Anaconda Or Butte Mt. you can buy an entire house with a yard for 35,000. - 40,000 your payments at that price are about 400 a mo. There are programs to help you qualify. as for lots of things for kids to do. all they need is YOU and your imagination, a baby sitter a little kids next door to play with.
Do you know why people are so excited to get their Nanny from Mt.? Because of our ability to adapt quickly and our intuitive playful nature. Do you know how we got that / not from a snotty preschoolplaygroup but from playing out side in the fresh air with the neighbor kids and our perfectly awesome mommy that made us (homemade) play dough animals and Popsicle stick corrals. And gave us an apple to share.... with the horse over the fence
that's my suggestion lol and as far as crime... like the crime you see on TV? or crime against kids so structured they need a therapist before they even start school.? city kids are stressed out!!!!!!!!! ....and that's why we don't have too much crime here ours are not!! well not in "normal families"( whatever normal is:) not TV crimes anyway. And we would love to have you for neighbors!! as long as you leave your big city in your past and embrace your future! Is this what you are looking for? also the Midwest is awesome.... that's where our parents are from and where our cousins live...of course they have more violent crimes there. just leave your old ideas behind. But we have the best Education here! The Uof M is awsome !

The choice is up to you...What ALL are you looking for? You can search the net for options. Here is one place to start:
Sperling's Best Places, http://www.bestplaces.net/
You can sign up and they will send newsletters. This month their newsletter lists the most drought prone places: http://www.droughtscore.com/
At any rate, Sperling's will provide info on crime, cost of living, average cost of a house, all that good stuff plus weather and climate info.
Good luck!
