Why are most of the newly designed vehciles turning a lot uglier?

Acura MDX
BMW X5
Dodge Caravan
Honda Civic

just to name a few. I personally think they were a lot better in their previous generations. These days they are turning a lot uglier.....

me and my wife was talking about that last night ,i think their running out of ideas as to design the cars with ,i know this year they are looking kind of square again,they actually have had about every design possible on cars,but the front end of the newer ones are getting a lot uglier,there's only so many ways you can design things though,the 08,s i have seen look worse than the 07,s do,right now i think their kind of stuck in between with not many designs to choose from,and i cant tell one from the other most of the time,maybe they,ll have a different line up for the 09,s,at least so we can tell them apart,good luck .

There have been a lot of changes in design in all brands recently to keep up with the push to make cars more economical to run. Also there is a public perception about design too that changes mean that they will be more efficient even if they are not. Design is a pretty subjective thing but I hear what you are saying.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but most car manufacturers do testing ahead of time to see how the general public relates to their designs. We are insisting on more efficient and economical so perhaps these new designs fit into this view. Remember how popular the little VW bug was when it first came out years ago and it certainly wasnt pretty.
