Hmm...miss mine intensely (Terry Roberts...1979-81). Would do anything for him even now. Was a bastard to some, but would never see me without confidence. Wonder if prefects can instill their minor 'powers' nowadays?

What would you suggest as an argument to make School Prefects 'wrong' then?
On the Positive side, it does apparently teach those who are given the role a sense of Responsibility.

Yes, although I had to wait to be asked to be "lost clothes" prefect after nearly a year in the sixth form!
It gives a rightful sense of responsibility.
Very useful in later life!

Yes, I'm one and I feel schools need order and authority. As long as prefects are fair and non violent then it's okay.

personally i think yes you should have prefects in a school as it offers them confidence and something to put on a cv. However it can cause some pupils to become aragaunt and from personal experience most younger pupils just ignore them or give them jip

No I do not think so ,what I really object to is these weak minded politicians harping on about the so called' good ol days' which has never really existed .All a prefect is is a teachers pet grassing up his comrades .If you want proper respect from pupils then earn it .When I went to school,in my experience, the teachers were like a load of power crazed ,dont spare the rod hippocrites ,scruffy with long hair.

I was a prefect back in the day and unfortunately one small kid got on my wrong side and I nearly ruined his chances of having kids, it brought out the bully in me, sadly? For that reason alone I would say no, but in general I think they do a good job!

yeah why not. We have them in our 6th form but it's different for us, anyone can be a prefect, we just had to put our names down on a list. It's a good thing to write on your personal statement for uni.

I disagree - all students should be considered prefects. Otherwise students who are not abdicate their responsibilities onto others.
