Is civilization at a near collapse or is this just business as usual for humanity? I think life is as it always was as with love and hate only a thin red line exists. I think life for people in general is better than it ever was in the past but at the same time is cought in a balancing act between the forces of good and evil. What is your take?

Who knows, and to Tyler r, the bible did not predict the 2012 theory, the Mayans did, and who says that they predicted that day the end of the world? No one knows why the calender ends. Maybe its just that "I got sick of making a calender go on and on " type of thing.

When Adam and Eve sinned Jehovah let them continue to live their way, knowing that all of mankind would make a choice, either for Jehovah's Sovereignty or for other kinds of government. In the meantime he allowed an example of how he would rule (in the nation of Israel); time for the Bible to be written; examples in the lives of men that identified the kind of conduct he approves or not; prophecies of the Messiah to be made so we could positvely identify him when he arrived.
He never intended for the world to continue under mankinds rule. He also knew what the earth would be like under man's so he wrote down guidance for his followers to avoid pitfalls.
Doesn't 2 Timothy 3:1-5 identify our present world? "In the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blashemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, withoutself-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion but proving false it its power; and from these turn away."
We are living in the time when God will step in and set matters straight in the world so we need to become subjects of his heavenly government now so we can enjoy its blessings.
