My sister is 29 years old and has never wanted children...which is a good thing because she wouldn't be a good mother, she'll even admit that

Having children is a very personal choice...I don't feel people that don't want them are cold hearted or anything like that...My sister is great with kids, she spends a lot of time with my daughter and stepson, they love her...but when she brings them back home she'll say " I'm glad they aren't mine, its not easy "

I've never wanted children. It's not a selfish thing with me, it's just something I've felt my whole life (I'm 33). I believe some of the answers above me.......like children bring joy to everyone. They do whether they're your own or not. Personally, they bring more joy to me especially knowing that they are someone else responsibility!

Yeah I get that all the time. I know that I'm not Mommy Material and it hurts when people think that I'm selfish or cold hearted. I'm deff not, I would never have an abortion but I know I would never plan to have a child. So I think some people still have this weird Idea that woman are just here to make babies.But I could name 10 strong, smart, successful, nice woman that never had any children. I think its a stereotype personally.

Good question!
I never wanted kids, but I think it was because I had a big hand in raising my younger brother since I was 7 years old and I missed out on a lot of my childhood because of it.
It's not because I don't like them, I just don't want any.

You're right. People usually think something is wrong with you if aren't married with children by a certain age. With all there is to do in this world, why would you tie yourself down by having kids? Lots of people should not be allowed to reproduce.

No offense to anyone who has the same opinion as you, but in my religion we believe God wants everyone who can have children to do so. Can you immagine all the poor women who want children but can't have them? Again no offense, but it just seems selfish to me.
I do also agree though that many people who have children shouldn't have. You should have to have a license to have kids.

Because it goes against the majority. You have the right to choose if you want children or not.
(some people who HAVE children should never have had them)

I never understood that.
If I had my way. . .I would make everyone wait until they were AT LEAST 25 or so. . .
Then they would have to be either married or in a long term committed relationship and take a class in order to be allowed to procreate. . .
But then again, that's just me. . .DON'T DO IT PEOPLE!!!
