I came here and found my comfort zone. Tried to do the other sites but they were a mess. People here are real friendly and even supportive if the need calls for it.

I suppose you do realize that one day YOU will be an "old person".
Sadly, I do not come into Seniors Y&A very often.
I myself am a senior, 76 years of age and I find that going into other sections keeps my mind working. Going into all sections is a learning process which I think, we as Seniors, need. Stimulating questions and answers, make you think.
However, it also gets you frustrated that there are still so many bigoted, prejudiced and judgemental people around, still.
It does show you that the world is still turning, sometimes in the wrong direction, but brain exercise is more important than physical excercise.
Unfortunately, I do not find the Seniors site, very stimulating or gets my adrenalin going, so I rarely come in.
Reading some of the answers, I would like seniors to know that there are many out there that could benefit from our "wisdom of the ages" and after receiving personal e-mail from teenagers in particular, I think we could be a great assistance to some young folk, that are crying out for help.
Of course you have to go by your gut, to sort out the true questions, from the other stuff.

I am a senior and I like some of the questions that are on here. I am so tired of the "what should I do questions," when some of them are from the same person week after week, and only worded a little differently. I really hope I can help some people with the experience I have, and hope there is some things that I can learn from other people, be them young or old, age is not a limit on learning or teaching.

I've always enjoyed spending time with "seniors", even when I was a child. I feel privileged when they choose to share their life experiences and wisdom. Also the fact that most seem to be at that part of their lives where they are comfortable with who they are, and don't feel the need to impress anyone. I enjoy listening to stories of how things were when they were younger. It's like history being brought to life.
Also "older" folks have a whole lot more manners and class then the younger folks which makes y/a seniors an enjoyable place to hang out.
Hope y'all don't mind some of us younger "pups" hanging out here nippin' at yer heels and soakin' up some of your wisdom.

I find a lot of comfort here No one really needs our advice, I do daycare for different families, but I only have a 4yr everyday and I have the rooms all set so I can come here after I get them occupied or down for their naps or off to school, my hubby helps with the kids but he isn't very talkative so this really helps me from not being lonely. Up until 5years ago we live in the northern part of our state, out in the country and there was always something to do ,I was never bored and now we live in a big city, and I don't like to go out, and then last spring my daughter gave me something I knew nothing about. this p.c. and then I found y /A not lonely anymore

I agree with ncgirl, and all the rest that have answered. I've also found that a person can ask just about any kind of question on this site, whether its serious or not, and get friendly answers.
One thing, though, one of my questions was dumped because, as the folks at Y/A command stated, it was a statement, not a question - so OK, now I know. But I still don't know if its safe to tell - 'eff' 'a' 'arr' 'tee' - stories.

I first came to this section to learn from others and share what I know, if I could be helpful. Now it's definitely
d) Because the people here are like a 2nd family.
I've found some wonderful folks here and enjoy us sharing with one another and have come to care for them very much.

It's a nice change from the nonsense one finds on other forums.
Here, people are usually more intelligent, have more life experience, don't rag on each other, don't insult each other and have a tolerance for diversity.
Plus, many of us have shared experiences and can talk and laugh about them.
P.S. Please don't refer to us as "old people"...there aren't any on here.

At first, I thought I might be helpful, but now, it's just plain and simple fun to talk to my friends on YA Senior Citizens. They (we) don't need lots of advice, they have years of experience and wisdom.
