Buying a new car will not make me happy, per se, when I am sad. But getting my new car is always a happy moment.

No.

Would burning £1000-worth of your £10 notes make you happy?
A brand new car is one of the most stupid things to buy. Depreciation on most models knocks off thousands in the first year.
Much better to buy an ex-demo, or a pre-registered nearly new one from a big car supermarket. (just don't take their finance)
