Why do we put up with it? Even if you have insurance it's always a crap shoot on if you're covered.

Worried about paying for it.

I don't know where everyone is getting the idea that we are being ruined by medical expenses in America. We certainly are not. I have medical insurance that does a pretty good job of paying for my needs. I can go to the doctor whenever I wish and pay ten dollars. I can get my prescriptions filled for anywhere from ten dollars for generic to eighty dollars for name brand. A tank of gasoline costs nearly that much.

My wife had cancer and the resulting surgery and therapy cost me nothing as it was all covered by my insurance. All together, I spent a little over a hundred dollars on follow up visits and medications. Again, hardly worth discussing.

The best part is that we went from diagnosis to surgery in four days. We never have to wait more than a day for a doctors appointment and the waiting room wait is usually between fifteen minutes to three hours in the extreme.

It is a bit of a pain having to go to a diagnostic center for tests but if we use the one our coverage recommends there is no associated cost to us. So it is worth going a bit out of the way for. There is little or no problem scheduling a test in a day or so.

Here in America, the truly needy are provided free health care including medications and even eyeglasses and orthopedic shoes. The wealthy do not need any insurance they can just afford to pay out of pocket. The rest of us have to pay some money but it is not as bad as people seem to think.

Of course there are always exceptions and extreme cases. But those need to be addressed individually. You cannot make policy for everyone else based on a few unusual cases. By and large, the system does an excellent job of providing service and containing cost.

I am not convinced that socialized medical care would cost less and I am convinced that the level of care would decrease.

You answered your own question. I've been disabled since 1995, and could be back at work if I could make enough money to pay for my Medical Care. The biggest reason why I stopped splitting tickets and vote straight Democratic now is that Republicans want me dead. At least, that seems to be their approach to Health Care.

More than half of all bankruptcies result from medical costs. And three quarters of those filers HAD health insurance. Part of the reason we pay so much more for Medical Care than the rest of the World is that people are so afraid of the expense that they get a lot sicker than folks elsewhere before they seek treatment.

The US ranks 23rd in the World in Life Expectancy and 37th in Health Care. Why? Three words. Private Health Insurers.

With a pre-existing condition, the insurance companies won't sell me coverage at any price.

Paying for it. I know of a man who when he went in for his bone marrow transplant was told that he had to pay 200,000 cash that day as his insurance would only cover 100,000 of it.
