Im not sure which country you are in but there should be a few magazines specifically for the equine industry... they will have heaps of ads for horses in them so it might pay to get hold of one and read some of the ads to get the wording and terminology right for yours.
Also, the normal newspaper should have a section for selling horses.
It would pay to advertise somewhere where "horsey people" are going to read it coz you don't want him going to someone who has no idea what they are doing. You could also ask your vet where they would recommend advertising!
If hes a kind horse, not too old, can be ridden easily and has a good temperament dont just give him away... he will be more valued and better looked after if whoever buys him feels he is worth something. Ive seen alot of horses who were "cheap / free to a good home" not being treated very well by the new owners. If you love him then take your time in finding the right person to take him.

Two publications in W.H. Smiths. Pony and
Horse and Pony. They are aimed at teenagers, they have horses for sale every month. Good chance of a good home as well. I wish you well. Terry.
