If you're sick, DON'T JOG! I learned the hard way that you have to get rest when sick. I went to the gym and lifted weights and got sicker. My doctor chewed me out.
If you must, go for a walk but don't jog.

Believe me, if you really have the flu, you will have no energy for a jog. With the flu, you have a high fever, fatigue, headache, sore throat ,....... A trip to the bathroom is a chore. You could not possibly want to run if it is indeed the flu. Perhaps you have a cold instead. If that is the case, if you feel like running, you could, but be careful. If you start breathing in cold air, it could cause more mucous production in your sinuses and lungs. Just take it into consideration. Personally, if you feel sick, I think you should take it easy for a couple of days, and then get back to your exercise routine.

When you are ill, your body goes into recovery mode, creating more white blood cells, to fight infection among other factors. Your body is already in a weakened condition due to its fighting off this infection. To go out for a jog would not be good for you. You will be expending energy best reserved to fight the infection. In additon, you use up precious oxygen, and will cause your sinus to work in overtime, running more, which works against any anithistimine or other flue medications in your system.
Jogging while you are ill can prolong your illness. I don't think that is what you wish to have occur. So, it does indeed harm your recovery.
However, it is up to you. It is your choice on whether or not you conserve your bodies natural healing or overexert it and cause a prolonged period of recovery. I wish you the best, hope you are well soon, and a nice holiday season. Oh, about the holidays, you don't want to prolong an illness during the holidays or you won't enjoy them as much!

Some exercise while your sick doesn't hurt, but you do have to use some common sense about it too. Your body may not be up to a full work out, so a short jog around the block may be all your body can handle. Push too hard and you could set yourself up for complications like pneumonia.
Since influenza is contagious you may want to wear a mask as you run, so that if there are other joggers you run with, you don't pass the flu on to them. Have fun!

If your not feeling well, but you feel like jogging, then your probably ok. However, if you don't feel well, and you keep pushing yourself,you could get sicker. Your the only one who can judge how you feel. How about just walking, instead of jogging for the next day or so, until your back to recovery.

Hurts.
Your body has so much energy available to it. Jogging uses a lot of energy for jogging, leaving less to fight off the invading critters.
Also, you're out in the cold, forcing your body to use energy to keep you warm, then you job, making you hot, forcing your body to cool you off. All energy zappers.
Changing temperature a lot is just expensive -- going in and out of different temperatures.
Plus, you'll be dehydrating yourself, when you need fluids more than ever.
If you want your sickness to drag out for weeks, then jogging is just the ticket. If you want to kick it, keep warm, rest (so your body can use all its resources to fight the critters invading it), drink lots of healthful fluids (no alcohol or caffeine or other dehydrating drinks), and give your body a break.
If you feel like jogging, you have a cold, not the flu. If you really had the flu you wouldn't be able to job at all. Still, what I've said holds: if you want it to last forever, then job; if you want to fight it off, give your body the resources to do so.

Rest is the most important element in recovery from the flu. If you feel like jogging, you probably don't have the flu.

no if you have the flu allow your body time to fully recover, also your heart may be effected by the flu so if you really want to go jogging see your doctor first.

I doubt it will hurt but if you have the flu it's adviseable to stay in the warm and dose yourself up, and besides do you really want to go jogging when you feel so ill?
