Today I was driving down a 2 way road. One side was under construction. There was a strip about 75yards long that was unavailable to drive on. 2 police officers were directing traffic. However, the 1 that was closest to me (supposed to be directing me) was on his cell phone sitting on the back of 1 of the construction trucks. So, I couldn't tell if the other officer (farthest away from me) was waving me to come or stop. I have 20/20 vision- no glasses- I had my eyes checked 4months ago. I could see him fine. But he wasn't clear in his signals. The other side of traffic was stopped. I thought he was waving me to go, so I went. When I was driving by him he yelled at me to "stop!". So I did. He then said "Is your mind in the f*****g right place?"- in a very rude manner. I just looked at him, a little stunned, and didn't say anything. He then said calmly "well, go ahead". I was so confused. Did he want me to stop and I didn't? Should I have said something to him?

It just makes me so mad that a grown man can say this to me and still think he's a hard ***! I'm 22 years old- but I look alot younger- I was alone, and I'm a petite person. He was older, bigger, and above all an officer! I just felt like he said that to me just to say something to me...

those cops are rarely hesitant to write you and others a ticket, so do the right thing and go to the police department and file a complaint. When cops would rather talk on their cell phone and cuss citizens out, some attention needs to be paid to their job performance.

I would just report it at the precinct or traffic DOT if you want to say something. I doubt much is done but you may get someone who takes action. Its wrong how some officers can rule the earth while we sit and are afraid to move due to it. A badge is not authority to belittle or be rude to the public and they have to take it. I wouldn't. First of all using F******* is alone illegal in public...........
One thing I despise is a officer proclaiming to be enforcing the same law he alone breaks.

Given what happened, you should have gotten his badge and complained at the police department.
What you should have done at the time is to have caught his eye, if possible, and gesture in a way to ask whether you were to go on or stop. Shrugging, with a questioning look on your face, for instance.
If you couldn't catch his eye, stopping was safer than proceeding. At most, he would have then impatiently motioned you to proceed, but at least you wouldn't have risked a head-on collision, which is what you did.
Yes, he was rude.
But then, you didn't do the right thing, either.

more cop corruption .
you did the right thing to remain calm and ignore him. you could have had a traffic citation to pay or have been beaten on by this policeperson.
too bad you did not get this recorded
get yourself a camcorder for your car and start documenting. hopefully you'll never need what you record , but if you do , you have it. it can help others too. less than 100 for a unit .

Go buy a short can of silly string at the dollar store (the 3-4" tall ones). Wrap it in black electrical tape, then start bragging about your new "pepper foam." When you've got their attention, take it out as if to show them, and spray it at them.

He's obviously an armed man on a power trip. Chatting with him wouldn't go well.
Consider chatting with the department, if you can identify the officer.
P.S. I can't imagine a polite way to say "is your mind in the f******g right place"...it's understood that it's rude :)

something similar happened when I was in a car with a friend recently. the cop was just a jerk. sadly, I really don't think you can say anything because I think they could like arrest you for being rude to an officer or something.

No say nothing at the time. Because carry the gun and are the power. If you found his approach rude and unforgivable, so to his precinct and file a report on him. It will become a part of his folder. But, don't call the police for help after that.! because it might not come.

Make a note of his name and call the police station and complain.
Or pull over to the side of the road and ask him to have his supervisor come out and explain his language to you.
