I have a dual axel 16 ft flat bed trailer. I need to know the torque specifications for the lug nuts. The tires are ST205/75/15 8 ply tires. I believe the lug nuts are 1/2 inch. The trailer uses rims that will fit a Chevrolet 5 hole pattern. I believe it is called a 5/5 rim.

If the lugs are 1/2 inch then anything over 80 ft. lbs. is excessive. My Ford manuals show torque specs for 1/2-13 bolts as 60-70 and 1/2-20 bolts as 70 to 80. Most passenger vehicles (and flatbed trailers) do have 1/2 inch bolts and are over torqued by many people who think tighter is better. Over torque of lug nuts leads to warped drums/rotors and eventual failure of the studs themselves. That's one of the reasons I don't let people use air impact wrenches on the wheels of my vehicles.

The same tires mounted on the vehicle itself require 100 foot pounds of torque as a general specification.

I agree, somewhere between 90 and 110 pounds/feet
