what do you do in study hall when you have no homework?

the teacher is mean tho...
he will make you do push ups instead of detention and losts of other stuffs but its usually worse.

Your mom has your back. What if you get to study hall and find that you need more than however long a period is to finish the homework? I can see using study hall to do homework from a class you've already had. If it takes too long, you can finish it at home. Using it for a class you're about to have is asking for trouble. Mind your mom.

If your mom wants you to do your homework at home, just do it. Then you could drop the ridiculous study hall and take something fun like wood shop or weight training or art. Study halls are for babies that can't just suck it up and get their homework done at home.

Or, read. A book, novel, magazine, etc... Just don't try to interupt anyone else's study.

If the teacher b*tches at you, look him straight in the eye and tell him that you have no homework, and you're not about to spend 45 minutes staring at the clock until period is over.

If you're going to surf, do it for "educational" reasons...like projects upcoming, science fair projects, etc. Incidentally, he has no right to do anything with your computer, but put a password on it just in case - if you don't already have one! Tip: + will lock a computer, so if he does try to confiscate it, you can lock it.

As for the push-ups, he may not be able to do that outside of a gym class. Talk to your folks, the principal, and if absolutely necessary, a lawyer.

I used to just try to ignore all the other guys in the room. They were really annoying, and there was always a funny smell. You should study during study hall. That way, you'll do good in school and get to leave all of those idiots behind! Yay!

I used to send huge emails to people I knew from summer camp when I was bored in study hall.

Another thing you could do is look around at college websites. You can find some interesting animations, games, and news articles on some of them, and if your teacher is curious then it at least looks educational.

Help someone else.
Go to the library.
Ask if there is anything you can do for the teacher.
Sit quietly and pretend to read.
When all else fails sleep.
Write a wish list for Christmas.
Make a plan for the days off at Christmas time.
Work ahead in a class.
Plan a spectacular vacation. Just in case the time comes you can take one.

Read a book. You can get in trouble for playing on the internet, but not for reading.

You may want to anonymously report the teacher to the school--those kind of punishments are often not allowed.
