They have a new sandwich called double steak and cheese.
It cost $5.19.
I ordered one and they charged me $6.19.
They said it's because it has double steak and cheese.
I said, but the price says it's $5.19 for the double steak and cheese sandwich, but they said they always charge a dollar extra for double meat.

I'm confused.
I think a sandwich called double steak and cheese for $5.19 should cost $5.19 as I didn't order any extra than what is advertised.
Do you think someone is pocketing a dollar or do you think I'm not thinking clearly and I'm wrong?

You are right, they can only charge you the listed Price plus applicable taxes. Ask the Manager to remedy it or go to their website and e-mail them for a refund/coupon.

Sounds like the counter person got confused with the rule of charging an extra dollar for double meat on Regular sized sandwiches.

My family owns 5 Subways. If you got a 6 inch, it should have probably paid about $5 and some change. With the regular meat it should be $4 and some change. If the regular 6 inch was $4 something, the double stacked should have been $5 something not $6.

I would call the store and speak to the manager and possibly the owner. The way the register is set up there was no possible way to charge double meat twice. The employee doing the register probably pocketed your money. And this is a new thing going on, we have only been advertising for a week, it may just be the employee was poorly trained.

P.S. Try to be patient with the manager or owner, it may have just been a misunderstanding and if you are patient you will get better results. I have people call my store all the time yelling at me when I have no idea what they are yelling about, lol. I always have to say I am sorry, but I wasn't here so you have to explain to me calmly, lol.

They are ripping you off. There is usually a phone no. on the receipt. Call the area manager and explain your concern. They will usually score you a free meal on your next visit. There is a glitch in their computers where a dbl meat shouldn't be able to be dbl'd again unless they want to give you four times the meat. Some subways automatically sell you the "meal" whether you ask for it or not and only retract it if you say something. Others tax you on a cold sandwich to go in CA which doesn't get taxed. Eating in incurs luxury tax, same as sales tax....common screw up. If it doesn't get resolved, I know some paisanos....nah , never mind. just call Connecticut.

You are correct. I would have asked for a manager or call place and call the corporate number to complain too. Sometimes people don't understand even the manager could have told the clerk wrong.

To Whoever-By the way lots of college grads work at fast food places and gas stations as it is the only job they can get after graduation. You are lied to when told there will be jobs in your field are out there after you graduate.

I would go to a different establishment and see if they do the same thing. Maybe they were charging double cheese, not double meat, and then w/tax on top of it.
there would be tax on top of the 5.19 but not a whole dollars worth.

I would get over it. You're talking about a dollar here. I mean I understand it's the principle of it and probably not the dollar itself that you're concerned about... but why go as far as the calling the manager and making a fuss about it?

1. We all hate people like that. So why would you want to act like that? Cheap people that want to worry about every penny they spend are the reasons I avoid walmart at all costs. Nine times out of ten you get stuck in line behind someone that has 30 coupons or wants to ask about the sale price of every item in their cart.

2. The kid behind the register probably made that mistake and just doesn't know any better. That's the kind of service you can expect from these places though. What college graduate is going to work for minimum wage as a Subway cashier? No shocker.... We've all had our fair share of bad fast food service experiences.

I would just suck it up and get over it.

Ask for the Manager. I think you're getting ripped off. They advertise it for $5.19. Thats what they should get.

Probably nobody is pocketing the dollar. I mean, the guy behind the counter is jsut doing what the corporation tells hims to do. Punching him would not have solved anything, except for probably getting the cops called.

I personally wouldn't really make that much of a fuss. i mean, It's a buck. I know it sucks, but a dollar is a dollar. If it's that big of a deal, don't order that sub again, eat at that particular subway, or any subway.

......................................NOTE........................................................

I've worked at a fast food joint, three actually (Burger King, Mickey D's, and Mr. Goodcents.) I've seen what happens when managers get calls about pricing and things like that(Especially if the customer says that they will never eat at that particular restaurant again(Even more so if they also add their friends into the mix). They are courteous to the persons face, apologize, hang up, shrug their shoulders, and say that that particular persons one hundred dollars is nothing in comparison to the thousands of dollars that the store had made that day.
