How long after wearing it can I have unprotected sex? It would help if you showed me where on the website it says that, because I really can't find anywhere it says it.

I've never been on birth control before and I should be starting the patch for the first time in a week or so.

it's for one week. you need to change it every week at the same day.

If you've just switched from another type of hormonal BC or from no BC at all to the patch, then your doctor should have told you it would take about 2-3 weeks for your body to regulate to the new hormones (this is true of any hormonal BC and for some reason docs don't always remind patients of this. Just like they don't always tell you anitbiotics can foul up your hormonal BC.)

If you've been on the patch for a while (that is a couple of months), then just changing patches isn't going to create any issues. Just as the previous poster said, try to change the patch once a week on the same day at the same time of day.
